constituents while continuing to develop a “pipeline” of future Democratic candidates and officeholders. The CEC, by majority vote, may adopt continuing rules for the conduct of its business and carry out the CEC’s role of managing the party’s affairs. Since 2018, the number of vetted and trained precinct chairpersons in the BCDP has more than doubled from approximately 150 to more than 350! Throughout the BCDP’s long and rich history, local individuals dedicated to traditional Democratic values of “governance & legislation for the greater good” of American society have stepped up to the task of leading the organization. In the last half century names like Peters, Quintanilla, Ramos, Vela, Martinez, Medina and Alcantara have taken the reins to oversee the responsibility of keeping elected Democratic officials in office and helping Democratic Party candidates get elected in Bexar County. While the manner, ideas and strategies implemented to meet this common goal has varied from Chairperson to Chairperson over the last 50 years of the BCDP, the goal and commitment to meet the basic goal of electing DEMOCRATS to office has always been the passion of the day. This passion to serve ALL Americans continues just as strong today as it ever has! The mid-term elections of 2018 established a “high water mark” for the BCDP when Chairwoman Alcantara, the CEC and hundreds of local volunteers of the BCDP delivered 51 victories out of 51 contested races for the Bexar County Democratic Party. This achievement serves as a “stepping stone” for the Bexar County Democratic Party to deliver its part in the effort of turning the state of Texas “Democrat Blue” in 2022!
