Vote by Mail

Voting by mail is not the same as it was in the past.

The information below was summarized from a 1/17/2022 Newsletter from BCDP Chairwoman Monica Ramirez Alcántara.

New Texas voter suppression laws is making it more difficult and confusing to vote by mail.  Currently half of the mail ballot applications are being rejected because not enough information or identification is being provided.  We want you to get it right and below is extremely important information if you or anyone is voting by mail.

BCDP volunteer, John Goodman, has put together a short video so you can see what you need to do.

You can vote by mail in Texas if you are 65+ in age, disabled or will be out of Bexar County three weeks prior to the election.  The first election in 2022 will be the Democratic Primary on March 1, 2022.

Some of you may have received in the mail a smaller size “Mail Ballot Request Form” from Texas Democratic Party with all your information already preprinted (lucky you).  You need to sign it and include BOTH your Texas Drivers’ License Number AND the last 4 digits of your Social Security Number.  Again, include BOTH if you have them.  Also, include your phone number so Bexar Elections can call you if there is a problem. Please mail it back to the Bexar Elections Office as soon as possible.

ACT NOW!  Most of us will need to get a 2022 mail ballot application from the Bexar Elections office, or Bexar County Democratic Party office, from your precinct chair or from a volunteer walking your neighborhood. If you have a printer, you can also download the form HERE.  It looks like this.

---  INSTRUCTIONS  ---
  • All voters must reapply to vote by mail annually using the new application.

  • NEW REQUIREMENT!!! Please include BOTH your Texas Drivers’ License Number AND the last 4 digits of your Social Security Number. Include your phone number so Bexar Elections can call you if there is a problem.

  • Fill it out and TAPE the sides of the printed application form OR place it in an envelope. Although the deadline is February 18th, we strongly recommend you mail or take you application to 1103 S. Frio, SA TX 78207 as soon as possible.
