The Chair's initial focus is happening on these four areas:
First and foremost, we are focused on the fundamentals. We need to make sure we’re financially sound and we fill and train precinct chairs. Ground game is important, but we learned in this election that it’s not everything. We need further explore other ways to reach people where they are.
Second, we are developing relationships with the surrounding counties. We’re a media market, and if we can coordinate messaging that could be very powerful. Michelle already has relationships with Guadalupe, Comal, Blanco and Hays; She is expanding on that with Bandera, Medina, Wilson and Atascosa. There is strength in building coalitions and leveraging skills. We are the 7th largest city in the nation. We have to think bigger.
Third, are talking about issues and defining ourselves. Right now, we’re letting Republicans define us and our candidates. Our stance on the issues is more popular, but our message is not breaking through. Again, we must reach people where they are at.
Finally, Michelle is a communicator. She is communicating with us all on a regular basis so we know where we are and what we’re doing. And she is also sharing what we need to be doing. The secret sauce to organization is communication.
