Overview Primary elections serve two main purposes: 1. Selection of the political party’s nominees for the general election in November 2026 for state and county officers. 2. Election of political party officers, specifically the offices of County Chair and Precinct Chairs, in the March 2026 Democratic Primary Election. 3. The filing period is now open and closes on December 8, 2025.
Primary Filing Process for 2026-2028 Term
Applications are here on the BCDP website or at the BCDP Office.
Find your precinct number by Clicking HERE (and write it down.)
Fill out your application to file by Clicking HERE.
Fill out all the information. Include a telephone number and an e-mail address (not optional).
Once the form is filled out, click on APPLY (at bottom of the form) and you will automatically receive by e-mail a PDF of your application.
Print out the PDF and get it notarized. DO NOT SIGN PRINTED COPY YET; Only sign printed copy in front of the notary.
Submit the notarized form in person or by mail to the Primary Team.

Precinct Chair Candidates are required by law to file an application for a place on the 2026 Primary Ballot during the filing period of September 9, 2025 - December 8, 2025.
Additional state and county officers, including county chairs, begin to file in November 2025. That information will be posted in October.
The precinct chairs are the Democratic Party’s representatives for Bexar County. They play a critical role in getting Democrats elected.
The filing process must be transparent and accessible. We are required to post on BCDP website the address and dates applications will be accepted.
