This page is for applying for Precinct Chair vacancies for the current 2026-2028 term.
Precinct Chairs play a vital role in meeting the goals of the Texas Democratic Party (TDP) and the Bexar County Democratic Party (BCDP). They are critical for community building, political organizing, and getting out the vote.  They coordinate neighborhood events, engage with their community members, and ensure voter turnout on election days.

We aim for a trained person to lead these community efforts in each precinct in Bexar County.  We welcome applicants from all backgrounds and experiences who are passionate about strengthening their communities and supporting our shared goals. Therefore, we strongly encourage you to apply.

Application Process

Submit your application. Click HERE for the application
Applications reviewed bi-monthly.
If approved, you will be voted and sworn in at the next County Executive Committee (CEC) meeting.
Plan to attend required training; Some listed HERE.
Begin your role as Precinct Chair.

Then, once you have your Precinct number, you can use either use the Generic Precinct Chair List or use our new Precinct Mapper tool below to see if the position is vacant or not.

Precinct Chair Requirements

Must be 18 or older and a registered voter.

Must live in the precinct where you are applying (and your address must match your Bexar County Voter Registration Certificate.)

Must have voted in the Democratic Primary election in the year he/she is applying as precinct chair.
Can not be an elected official or candidate for county, state or federal office.

Precinct Chair Responsibilities

Attend training sessions listed in the course catalog and calendar.

Organize your precinct and build community in your neighborhood.
Ensure newcomers who have moved into your precinct are registered to vote.
Remind elderly voters over 65 to apply for “vote by mail” annually if they find it difficult to vote in person.
Mobilize voters; Get them to the polls (talk to voters via phone, text, e-mail, or by drop materials at the door).
Learn to use Voter Action Network (VAN) and Mini-VAN as tools for voter engagement and manage outreach efforts.
Recruit volunteers from your precinct to help assist with “Getting Out The Vote” (GOTV) efforts.
Attend the County Executive Committee (CEC) meetings via Zoom or in-person.
